What Does The Bible Say About Investing In Gold

Fear And A Financial Plan

6 BIBLICAL INVESTING PRINCIPLES | What does the Bible say about Investing?

In this Parable, we get a glimpse at the role fear can play in investing. When youre scared of losing money, you might make decisions that youll be unhappy with in the long run. A financial plan, and an investment plan, can help combat that fear.

Work with an advisor to create plans for your investments that clearly state your goals and expectations.

Its possible that the two faithful servants in this Parable risked a lot to provide their returns. If they had both invested the gold in the same venture, they would have increased their masters exposure to risk, which he presumably sought to reduce when he diversified his gold amongst his servants.

Still, Im not aware of anything in life that comes without risk. Reducing risk in one area can increase your risk elsewhere. So try to ensure that each one of your investments does what its supposed to do. And use your investment plan to outline what each investment is supposed to do. It should also outline the expectations for both your investment manage and you.

Managed expectations can help you avoid both the fear and disappointment we see in this Parable.

Investment Lessons From The Bible

Posted on

The Bible is full of life lessons, and that includes investment lessons. Lets look at one lesson in particular in the New Testament and what it can teach us about wealth management.

In the Parable of the Bags of Gold , a man goes on a journey and entrusts his wealth to several servants. You could say that he diversified his investments among several wealth managers. If we look at it in modern terms, you might say that he had a long-time horizon for his investments similar to retirement planning. He gave one of the servants five bags of gold, another he gave two bags of gold, and another servant just one bag.

From the gold and silver in Solomons temple to heavens streets of pure gold, there are more than 700 references to these two precious metals in the Bible. As relevant and desired as gold and silver are today throughout most cultures, they have a much older and timeless context within the Bible. When examining scripture, a reader can draw three critical characteristics about gold and silver: their divine origin, intrinsic value, and monetary quality.

To Invest Your Life Successfully Deposit It With Christ

You can dream about and study investments all you like, but the bottom line is when you actually deposit some of your hard-earned cash with the investment firm. Until that transaction takes place, all of your knowledge and interest in the subject count for nothing. If the investment shoots up in value, it wont benefit you at all unless youre actually invested in it.

In a similar way, you must personally commit your life to Jesus Christ. Paul writes , For this reason I also suffer these things, but I am not ashamed for I know whom I have believed and I am convinced that He is able to guard what I have entrusted to Him until that day. The Greek word for deposit was used of leaving your valuables in the care of a trusted friend to guard while you were away. Until you deposit your life with Christ, all of your knowledge about God and interest in spiritual things amount to nothing. You must make the deposit before the investment can begin to benefit you. So a crucial question is, How do I deposit my life with Christ?

A. Depositing your life with Christ involves knowledge and trust.

Trusting Christ as your Savior means getting on board and putting your full weight down on Him. You let go of any notion that you can do anything to save yourself. You abandon any trust in your good works. You rely on Christ and His shed blood as the only acceptable payment for your sins. That is the starting point of banking with God.

But, you may ask, will my deposit be secure?

Roman And Orthodox Catholic Prophecies About Gold The Great Monarch And Antichrist

What does Bible say about Money and Investment? Unihome

Eastern Orthodox and Roman Catholic prophecies discuss gold in the end times.

Notice the following Orthodox prophecies:

Saint Andrew Fool-for-Christ : This king will rule…Happiness will reign in the world as it did in the days of Noah. People will become very rich…The entire world will fear this king…he will pursue all persons of the Jewish religion out of Constantinople…and the people will rejoice like in the time of Noah until the deluge came God will reveal to this king all the gold wherever it happen to lay concealed from viewâ¦, 2000, pp. 113,114).

Emperor Leo the Philosopher : You will amass the gold of the nations…And you will be the leader of the surrounding powers…and those that are near will prostate themselves before your feet .To Emperor Manuel II : …upon the command of the the good Emperor they will go and discover treasures of gold and silver and all this will be offered as a gift to the pious ones later on more and more valuable treasures will be found and the Emperor will do with those treasures likewise .

Roman Catholics may wish to consider that those last three predictions sound a lot like prophecies from two of their saints about Antichrist :

So does the Great Monarch amass gold with God’s help like Orthodox prophecies suggest or does he amass gold with the help of Satan as at least one Catholic saint and certain biblical prophecies indicate?

Gold And Silver Are Worthless

January 21, 2011 by Tim

Its interesting to note the trend of gold and silver over the last few years. These precious metals have soared in price, and Ive seen many people run towards this investment primarily because of fear. This article, however, isnt about my thoughts on using precious metals as an investment its about what the Bible says about the value of gold and silver.

The Biblical book of James ends with a warning to the rich. In verse three of chapter five, James says, Your gold and silver have become worthless. The very wealth you were counting on will eat away your flesh like fire. This treasure you have accumulated will stand as evidence against you on the day of judgment.

Article How Gold Inflation And Government Impact You Spot On For The 21st Century

Notice that similar to many modern economists, in 1981 a Plain Truth reporter recognized that gold was historically used as money, that paper money ultimately will fail, and that the USA dollar would not stay on top :

ON AUGUST 15, 1971, President Nixon dropped a bombshell that rocked the entire world financial system to its foundations. By executive decree, he cut the dollar loose from , gold. He invited foreign banks, governments and private markets to “float” the dollar’s value. No longer would the dollar be redeemable in gold by foreign governments as previously nor would gold be tied to its former price of U.S. $35 per ounce.

Look at what has happened since. The price of the precious metal skyrocketed…

Does Investing In Stocks Show A Lack Of Faith In God

Now that we have taken a very brief look at what investing is and isnt, we now must consider whether someone who invests is demonstrating a lack of faith. Matthew 10:5-11:1 is a common passage that is brought up whenever discussing planning for the future, and trusting in God. This is where Jesus sends out his 12 Apostles to preach His word, heal the sick, and perform various miracles throughout Israel.

He gives them instructions on where to go, what to do, and dangers to look out for . However it is Jesus instructions on what items to take along for the journey, that we want to take a look at nowMatthew 10:9-10 says:

Do not acquire gold, or silver, or copper for your money belts, or a bag for your journey, or even two coats, or sandals, or a staff for the worker is worthy of his support.

As we see here, Christ was teaching them to trust in the Lord for all provision and care. This would be experienced through the kindness of those to whom they ministered in these various towns. They were not to take extra materials with them , because God would work things out so that they would have all that they need!

This should be a great encouragement to us as believers because we know that God is able to provide for us no matter what our current situation may be.

He is now telling them to use normal means to provide for themselves , rather than just to go out with the bare minimum and count on Gods providence in a more pronounced way .

Gods Will For Your Finances

By Larry Burkett | 06/27/18 |

A steward is one who manages anothers resources. Each of us is a manager, not an owner. God is the owner, and we are to manage according to His plan. All of the promises God has made regarding His blessings in this area are predicated on the principle that we relinquish ownership. If we refuse to do this we can never experience Gods plan for our finances. As a consequence, our lives will be characterized constantly by turmoil and anxiety in the area of money.

It is important for the Christian to trust God in every circumstance. If we believe that God really loves us and will give us only that amount of money that we can handle without worry, we can have perfect peace in finances. But not until we have committed all of our resources to Him.

It becomes clear that money is a training ground for God to develop our trustworthiness. If therefore you have not been faithful in the use of unrighteous mammon, who will entrust the true riches to you? .

Why do Christians have difficulty trusting God in this area? We really dont believe that He will only do the best for us. So we have the tendency to want to withhold a part of what we have. But until we have experienced freedom in the area of money, we will never experience Gods total plan for our lives.

To dispel some of the religious folklore that exists concerning money, lets look at several common myths and then consider what attitude God wants us to have.

Gold And Silver Iras:

Just as the Bible tells us that gold and silver are the only monetary systems of any true value, there are many people today who share the sentiment that the man-made construct of money and the US dollar are collapsing. Its not just Christians who understand the importance of gold and silver in the Biblical sense who are turning to gold and silver to secure their future.

Not all Individual Retirement Accounts or IRAs allow for precious metal investing as they focus on paper investments exclusively. However, there are both gold and silver IRAs out there that allow you to take the money you choose to set aside for retirement and purchase precious metals with it. Some might say that these IRAs allow you to literally turn your nest egg into gold.

Aside from the fact that the Bible supports gold and silver savings, there are lots of reasons to invest in precious metals. Gold and silver both provide hedges against inflation. As dollars become less and less valuable, gold and silver become more valuable. More dollars in circulation and less precious metals available mean that the scales of supply and demand are tipping.

All gold and silver IRAs are not equal. Only self-directed IRAs are allowed to invest in gold and silver. Self-directed IRAs allow the customer to make the decisions about which investments they would like in their IRA and provide a much wider range of products than IRAs without the self-directed designation.

What Else Does The Bible Say About Gold

There are numerous other references to gold throughout the bible that demonstrate how valued the precious metal was to ancient peoples:

Your gold and silver have corrupted you. James 5:3

Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven. Matthew 6:19-20

The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field. When a man found it, he hid it again, and then in his joy went and sold all he had and bought that field. Matthew 13:44

Clearly, the bible does not advocate hoarding wealth or placing value on earthly possessions. However, it does acknowledge the value of gold and other precious metals as legitimate resources to be managed and utilized wisely.

In light of the current economic climate and the vulnerability of many currencies around the world, investing in gold has become an increasingly popular choice for those looking to protect their assets from inflation and financial instability. While there is always a certain degree of risk involved with making any investment, it can be argued that gold provides one of the most stable long-term returns.

Gold, the protector of wealth, is delivered to us by God and has withstood the test of time. Paper currency is man-made and represents a lack of virtue and promotes a life of excess.

Gold and silver belong to God alone for God created it and bestowed it upon us here on Earth. Gold and silver are sacred stores of value that always protect wealth, transcend time and are ever-lasting. Gold is mentioned 417 times in the Bible and silver is mentioned 320 times.

Midas Gold Group believes the Bible gives clues on how man-made currencies represents instability, a lack of virtue and encourages living wastefully in excess. Midas Gold Group urges everyone, particularly those dependent on a fixed income like a savings account or mutual fund to take critical protective measures now.

There are biblical principles that encourage the use of gold and silver as true protectors of wealth. That the use of gold and silver by individuals as well as nations will lead us on a path where we can arrive at a wealth of another kind, the wealth of nations and of brotherhood born out of the crucible of discipline, restraint, and integrity.

The farther backward you can look, the farther forward you are likely to see.
