Affordable Advice To Help You Do More With Your Money
Whether youd prefer investment advice online or face-to-face, well take the time to find out about your personal financial goals and how you feel about risk. Thats how we can work out whether investing could be right for you, and if so, where and how much to invest.
Remember, investing comes with risk, so you may not get back what you invest. You can access your money if you need to, usually within 5 days, but you should aim to invest for at least 5 years.
What Type Of Clients Do You Work With
Do they work with younger people? Retirees? Wealthy people? Young, wealthy retirees? Your financial advisor doesnt need to be someone like you, but your financial advisor needs to be someone who knows what makes someone like you tick. What motivates you to be investing for the long term anyway? Implicit in questions about the clientele, of course, is a sometimes fraught question: how old are your clients? If you actually ask this question, and you can, they might say, All ages! But if you press them, you’ll get a sense of which age range they typically focus on. Its not an ageist question.A 61 year old is naturally likely to be spending a lot of time on retirement investing, simply because her clientele has aged along with her. But if youre 25, is she the right advisor for you? Its OK to talk this through with a prospective advisor. They should get it. If they dont, then ask yourself: what else are they uncomfortable talking about? Again, this relationship should be marked by reciprocity. Both sides need to reveal what motivates them and how they like to collaborate.

What To Be Careful Of With A Financial Advisor
As great as a good financial advisor can be, there are always some bad apples. An incompetent advisor can cost you a lot of money. Here are some red flags to look out for when you are working with an advisor:
- Churning your investments: Prompting you to buy and sell securities more than necessary, to generate higher commissions for themselves.
- Expensive investments: Pointing you to mutual funds with high expense ratios when a similar, low-cost index fund or an exchange-traded fund would be a better choice.
- Bad planning: A well-intentioned advisor who puts together a financial plan that is sketchy or ridden with holes is not helping you at all. Of course, plans do need to be flexible, given changes in the economy, interest ratesand of course, the curveballs that life can throw at you personally . But you need to start out with a detailed blueprint and a clear course of action.
- Not responding: Even an unbiased advisor is useless if they never return your calls or emails or is unresponsive when an urgent need arises. Timing can be of the essence with many financial and investment scenarios, and you must feel confident that your advisor will respond to you promptly.

Influencers Have A New Racket In Indonesia: Investment Advice
At midnight on July 9, Ahmad Rifai was restless. Rifai is a former business journalist and self-described enthusiastic startup watcher, and that morning, one of Indonesias biggest tech companies, Bukalapak, announced plans for its much-anticipated IPO in Jakarta, which was expected to value the e-commerce platform at $6 billion. Rifai opened Twitter, where he saw a slew of tweets about the listing.
Suspicious, he investigated, using the Twitter scraping tool Twint, to extract data on hashtags relating to the IPO, and Gephi, to visualize patterns in their use. He tallied up a total of 2,982 tweets that contained the keywords beli saham Bukalapak and the hashtag #BeliBuka , which he suspected were pushed by a network of bots. A month later, at the culmination of Bukalapaks listing process, another hashtag, #BukalapakIPO, emerged.
As he dug, Rifai found that it was being boosted by a diverse cast of characters. Well-known figures, like social media personality Pantun Galimar and stand-up comedians Fico Fachriza and Arie Kriting, were recirculating the hashtag, along with exuberant promises of profit. Elsewhere, one branch of tweets was frantically mentioning Cathie Wood, the high-profile American tech investor and founder of the $50 billion ARK Invest management firm.
I saw people saying they were told to mention Cathie Wood so that she would look at Bukalapak. I found two names Rita Efendy and Ci Tjoe Ay, Rifai told Rest of World.

Ideally, you shouldn’t invest money you’ll need within the next two to five years, since a longer time frame will provide the opportunity for the market to recover if it goes through a downturn shortly after you’ve bought your assets.
